Building trust in collective bargaining: A co-creative workshop for Austria, Ireland, and Sweden

September 8, 2025

On Thursday, September 4, our online workshop brought together social partners from Austria, Ireland, and Sweden to reflect on how to strengthen trust in industrial relations and make collective bargaining more effective and fair.

The workshop opened with a short introduction of the TRUE Europe project, followed by the presentation of results from our online survey, where participants shared their views on trust in industrial relations.

Main project coordinator Bengt Larsson then introduced country-specific research results, compared across Austria, Ireland, and Sweden, highlighting both key differences and important commonalities.

In two lively plenary sessions, researchers and social partners co-created and discussed the most promising strategies for building trust in these countries. Their input will directly shape our project outcomes and policy recommendations.

The workshop was engaging, relaxed yet very constructive, and it sparked interactive debates — it was truly inspiring to learn from the valuable insights of our participants.

A huge thank you to all participants for your openness, time, and expertise — your contributions are invaluable!

The project will soon conclude with a Final Conference, where comparative insights will be presented and discussed with researchers, trade union and employer representatives, and European policymakers.
